Candidate Attraction, Selection and Testing
Candidate Attraction
In order to attract the best possible temporary applicants for your assignment, RIS operates an effective candidate attraction programme. Each vacancy we receive will be advertised as a minimum in the following ways:
- Randstad website
- The local press job website, i.e. Argus, Thisisdevon etc
- Monster website
- Job Centre Plus website
- Fish4 website
- Gumtree website
- Total Jobs website
In addition to advertising we distribute leaflets locally in such places as cafes, bars, sandwich bars, car parks and train/bus stations. We also operate 'open days' in local Job Centres, as well as actively encouraging recommendations from the existing temporary work force.
We will also advertise in the local press if the above does not attract the quality of candidates that we expect.
Interview Processes & Selection
To ensure the right skills match to your department, all potential candidates go through the following processes before being considered for an assignment.
- Initial telephone interview
- Formal interview, with competency and practical assessments
- All necessary UK Power Networks paperwork and forms explained and completed
- Guided tour of building with focus on the working environment
- Suitable vacancies explained in detail and compared with candidates desires
At this point we carry out the necessary Identity and Eligibility checks.
- Original Passport or Full Birth Certificate seen and copied
- Proof of National Insurance, seen and copied
We ensure that all potential candidates are referenced and that a minimum of two references are obtained prior to commencement of their assignment.
Testing Facilities
We offer a wide range of testing packages to potential candidates, a complete list can be found in the appendices section. As part of our continued service and development plan, we currently operate 'Client Open Days'. This allows any Team Manager or CRM to come and join the RIS Team for a couple of hours to sample our interview process and testing facilities, giving an insight to what we offer and providing benchmark testing criteria for individual Managers. It also gives the RIS Team in depth knowledge of what specifics you require from potential candidates. If you would like to come along to one of our open days, please contact your onsite Account Specialist to arrange.
Please note our testing facilities can also provide training on MS Office applications and are freely available to all flex associates and UK Power Networks staff.
