The UK's largest retailer has unveiled plans for an eco-store in County Durham that will generate 400 jobs for the local community.Tesco is holding a public exhibition for proposals to build a low-carbon store in Peterlee, which will create both full-time and part-time employment opportunities in the north east of England.
Individuals who are successful in their applications will undergo training courses ranging from basic retail skills to management schemes, depending on their position.
Doug Wilson, corporate affairs manager, suggested that the outlet will "revitalise" Peterlee's town centre.
He said: "We are delighted to announce details of proposals for Peterlee which will create hundreds of new jobs and boost the local economy."
Last month, Whitestone Weavers announced that it will be creating hundreds of new jobs in the north east of England by relocating its production base to the region.
