Dale Farm to create 60 new jobs in Northern Ireland

A series of new positions are expected to be generated by dairy company Dale Farm in Northern Ireland as it expands its processing operations in the country.The firm has announced plans to create 60 new jobs at three sites in Cookstown, Ballymena and Pennybridge as part of £39 million worth of investment in the facilities, which it claims is the largest investment ever by a single operator in the Northern Ireland dairy sector.
Owned through a cooperative of 2,000 farmers and suppliers, Dale Farm is upgrading its Ballymena milk and cream factory at the Pennybridge dairy to include a new bottle plant from Nampak, assisted by £3 million of investment from the packaging firm.
A new cheddar cheese plant has been opened by the company in Dunmanbridge, Cookstown and the event was used by chief executive David Dobbin to unveil plans for the new jobs.
Meanwhile, Medina Dairy is recruiting dozens of people in Tyneside as it has assumed responsibility for a facility at Blaydon and plans to create 50 new jobs in the north east of England by the end of 2010.
