Training academy launched for hotels jobs

A new training academy has been unveiled that is dedicated to preparing individuals for hotels jobs.The Travelodge institution is a move by the company to enhance hospitality skills of new workers and is described as "the first of its kind in the country".
Dedicated to the hotels industry, the Skills Academy is located at the Coventry Travelodge and was established by the National Skills Academy for Hospitality, with future plans to establish a further 20 facilities at other
hotels.
Facilities at the centre include seminar spaces and interactive technology, with trainees will be able to hone their customer service and management skills.
David McHattie, National Skills Academy chief executive, stated: "This is a great example of a big business supporting the industry and smaller businesses.
"In challenging economic times both companies and individuals need to stand out from the crowd."
Travelodge announced in July that it is planning to appoint 140 new employees across the UK following its purchase of a series of 52 Innkeeper's Lodges, including a total of 40 hotel managers.
In addition, the company is seeking 100 entry level staff, including night porters, cleaners and receptionists, with all appointees provided with a four-week training programme as part of the firm's Sleep Manifesto.
