The term legal support covers a number of important roles within the legal sector working with fully qualified lawyers. As a legal support worker you could be working in the commercial, litigation, pi, conveyancing, family or probate specialties. These roles include but are not limited to:

legal secretary paralegal
pay & fee earner litigation associate
legal assistant conveyancing assistant



These kinds of roles will often involve the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • audio and copy typing
  • providing administrative & general secretarial support (see secretarial & PA jobs)
  • handling telephone enquiries
  • collating legal documents
  • attending court hearings
  • managing diaries and booking daily appointments
  • making travel arrangements

To succeed in these kinds of roles you are likely to possess some or all of the following qualities and attributes:

  • good computer skills (fast typing speed, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • an ability to work under pressure & to deadlines
  • very good attention to detail
  • be a confident communicator over the phone
