Randstad HR Solutions is a specialist division of Randstad. It works in partnership with universities and colleges right across the UK to provide non-medical helpers to students with physical and learning disabilities.
The division also works with the Open University to offer students who are in receipt of a Disabled Student’s Allowance a tailor-made service which provides study support in a home setting. The kinds of roles which HR Solutions’ staff fulfil include notetakers, transcribers, personal support/mobility support workers, readers, specialist support tutors (for students with Aspergers, Dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties) and mental health mentors.
The other aspect to HR Solutions’ work is the provision of sophisticated HR outsourcing services, developed initially for the education sector but increasingly adopted by the wider business community.
Outsourcing is tailor-made to each company’s requirements. Components in HR Solutions’ offering include: on site support (during, for example, investigations, disciplinary meetings, appraisals, and strategic reviews); “transactional outsourcing” (outsourcing some or all of the tasks required by HR administration, including writing/updating policies, running employee checks, managing induction, appraisals, and disciplinary procedures, administering payroll and salary and benefits); project management (for example for change management, training, and creating resourcing plans).
To create a bespoke package, experienced HR Solutions staff undertake a full-scale “needs analysis” of an individual company’s requirements. The approach is highly proactive: consultants work to reach a full understanding of the business and the people who work in it before making recommendations. Once agreement is reached, the service is phased in according to an approved implementation plan.
