About Our Client
Our client is a busy and expanding Manufacturing Company based in Cheltenham who is looking for a new Technical Services manager to start in January 2012. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Junior manager or supervisor who is looking to take a step up within a multinational organisation. The successful candidate will have a background within Metallurgy and looking to take a step up on the career ladder.
Job Responsibilities:
? Management and standardisation of all Global / Divisional laboratory policies, procedures and work instructions to comply with ISO / IEC 17025.
? To provide hands-on product testing support in the accredited laboratory as and when workload dictates this.
? To drive and oversee implementation of the Corporate Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
? To manage the UK Internal Audit activities and associated dedicated personnel.
? Responsibility for the receipt, compilation and despatch of all customer questionnaires applicable to Anixter systems, procedures and accreditations.
? Management of all AXE Vendor Lock processes, access and security settings, overrides and management control.
? Collaboration with the Global Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Departmental Directors and Managers to support their business responsibilities and objectives.
? Participate with the rest of the Management Team in ensuring that an effective internal control environment exists and ensure compliance with Global procedures.
? Manage specific projects and associated project planners.
? The development of comprehensive integrated documented management system, promoting the use of a process based approach and accessible to all personnel.
? Where defined, to achieve and maintain third party and applicable customer accreditations as required by the Business.
? The interpretation of and implementation of the Company’s strategies and policies into working practise and procedure.
? The establishment of working associations with colleagues that will facilitate the harmonisation of working practises, taking best practise wherever it can be found.
? To ensure the effectiveness of the Company’s management systems through Management Review.
? To establish KPI’s on behalf of the combined Technical Services Department and other business systems ensuring compilation and reporting is effective and maintained.
? The introduction of available technologies to enhance the effectiveness of the business systems.
? Initiate Induction training for new job holders within your team.
? Carryout PDP reviews with staff.
? Staff Training and coaching.
Preferred Skills:
- Must come form a Labratory background within the metals industry
- Must have supervisory experience
- Must be familiar with IEC 17025 standards
- Metallurgy background and qualifications
Personal Attributes:
- Must be a team player who is happy to do all aspects of the role rather than dictate to team
- Strong character who is able to deal effectively with clients
- Must come from a Metallurgy background
