Randstad Business Support currently seeking to recruit an experienced Freight professional to join an expanding company in Gloucester. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum fleet efficiency by planning routes effectively to meet our customer requirements whilst remaining cost competitive to ensure the operation maximises profits.
Role responsibilities:
- Planning vehicle routes using a mix of own and subcontracted fleet.
- Daily operational liaison with other depots across the business to ensure schedules, plans and customer service levels are adhered to.
- Dealing with customer bookings and queries.
- Seeking additional backhaul opportunities and calling existing customers for additional loads.
- Dealing with driver issues and queries.
- Identifying potential cost reduction and network improvement opportunities to enhance the profitability of the transport operation whilst maintaining the desired levels of Customer service and KPI’s.
- Complying with Transport legislation and Health and Safety requirements at all times.
Skills and Experience:
- Good operational experience within the transport/logistics industry.
- Knowledge of road transport operations and transport legislation.
- The ability to work flexibly in order to exceed our customer’s expectations.
- Good decision making and problem solving skills.
Candidate Requirements:
- computer literate with MS Office skills and previous experience of using Claws
- have good planning skills
- be well organised, confident and have the ability to communicate at all levels.
- someone who is energetic, enthusiastic, reliable and result orientated
